Wildside was Meg Ryan’s 2nd short-lived prime time series (after “One of the Boys” [1982]). She was also in the daytime soap, “As the World Turns” [1982-1984]. Cally Oaks was the owner/editor of the local newspaper. Cally was very much like the characters Meg Ryan most frequently plays on the big screen: perky, spunky, adorable. She was Sutton’s love interest and referred to him as "Brat".

SANDY McPEAK Gov. J. Wendell Summerhayes
Governor Summerhayes was a friend of Brodie & Bannister in the old days when they rode together. He calls on the Chamber of Commerce of Wildside for important assignments that cannot be handled by Pete Montana, an elusive marshal who rides thru Wildside County in several episodes in a vain attempt to catch someone without the help of the Five.
