We have no pretensions about the type of fanfic listed on the "non-canon list.  When this was originally written, oh so many years ago, there was a dearth of strong female characters in TV Westerns.  The related stories listed below use the not uncommon device among female fanfic authors of using a fictional female as a protagonist.  For this reason it won't be considered fan fiction of the purest type in which only characters from a show have any central parts.  This device has been dismissed as  fantasy wish fulfillment etc.  We don't argue with the suggestion that such fiction deviates  from the canon of the series being written about.  Truth be told, had Westerns in the late 1950's thru the 1960's had the equivalents of Emma Peel (Avengers) or the female warriors of Deep Space Nine; Xena, Warrior Princess or Buffy Vampire Slayer we would have written about them and not made up our own woman warrior.  [You might guess one of our favorite movies is The Quick & the Dead with Sharon Stone as a female gunfighter.]

For those knowledgable about fanfic subgenres we unabashedly admit the RJ stories fall into the category unflatteringly labelled "Mary Sue".  We still like them.  If anyone else submits some, I may create a whole Mary Sue index and try to come up with a more flattering description.  So we are including the RJ stories here and attempt to keep faithful at least to the "voice" of the series characters.  The Bonanza sections wander the most from the canon of the series, the Laredo sections the least.

If you like this kind of story, we recommend the Vin & Sky stories on the Robert Fuller fansite (Vin was the character Fuller played in Return of the Seven) http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony.gill130/fanfic.htm and the Adam & Cat stories by Caz Convine on the Bonanza writers roundup at  http://216.230.210.179/Writers/writers.htm  Our other fanfic list (the canon list) has more traditional fanfic with series characters as protagonists.  For the in-canon list, CLICK HERE

The following links are excerpts from the uncompleted fanfic book RJ & Her Posse, a First Life Biography by her daughter Abby Jackson Cooper.

The links are listed in chronological order but some chapters have not yet been transferred to our site from old typed manuscripts.  These chapters have been written as collaborations by  fans of the Western TV characters noted above.   The stories are true to the original characters (we hope) but there have been slight alterations in a few of the backstories to accomodate the cross-overs.  More to come but real life has caused delays.  Click for a little background on RJ .
Caution:  There are R-rated sections in most of these stories.
