William Smith played James “Kimo” Carew for the final season of Hawaii 5-0, replacing James MacArthur who said he “wanted to do other things”.  [He may have been tired after 11 years of coping with Jack Lord  who was reputedly “difficult”.]  So for that last year instead of “Book ‘em Danno”, is was “Lock ‘em up Kimo”.  Ironically, James MacArthur, was originally chosen to play Danny Williams over Tim O’Kelly, the actor who played Danno in the pilot movie, because O’Kelly was deemed a little too hard-looking.   Casting Bill in this role suggests this particular consideration was no longer important.
