MARTIN
MILNER outside Laredo
 |
MARTIN MILNER was known to baby boomers as Todd Stiles
who traveled the country in a Corvette on ROUTE 66 from 1960-64
. |
With George Maharis as
Buz Murdock (1960-63)
|
With Glenn Corbett as
Linc Case (1963-64)
|
| Milner became even better known when he traded in the Corvette for
a squad car during the 7 yr run (1968-75) of ADAM 12, the show that
made “You have the right to remain silent . . . .” a universally known
litany. [Shown at right with Kent McCord as Pete Molloy's partner Jim Reed.] |
|
Milner also spent a year
living THE LIFE OF RILEY [1957-58] and seven months marooned as
part of THE SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON [1975-76]. Although he did
relatively few westerns, Milner appeared in a respectable number of films,
mini-series, TV movies and made guest appearances in other series.
| One of Milner's more notable
early roles was in the movie MARJORIE MORNINGSTAR in 1958. He played
Wally, Natalie Wood’s long-suffering suitor. She spends most of the
movie in love with Gene Kelly but rewards Wally's patience in the end when
she realizes Gene Kelly is not the one for her. |
|
And a little Peter Brown trivia
|
If you look closely at the
end of Marjorie Morningstar. you’ll see Peter Brown deliver a single line.
One suspects there was more that ended up on the cutting room floor because
by the time this was filmed Brown had featured parts in a number of shows.
He seemed a little beyond a one-line bit part. |
